AKCLF Five year Library Development plan 2021 to 2026
The library will provide a direct service to Mankessim community. The Local population is about 20,000 with four High Schools in the area but has no Library. The Mfantseman district capital, Saltpond also has no Library. Thus a district with a population of about 152,858 has no library in it’s district capital therefore even with the establishment of this community library, some people may travel long distances from surrounding villages to use this facility. Infact due to this dire need, this project responds directly to the community needs.
A land of about 0.86 acre has been purchased and levelled and is ready to begin construction of the foundation on which the Library will be built. The library would help us to educate some of the people who say women would be married so their education is not important as well as those under the notion that a child belongs to the maternal family so the father could refuse to be responsible for his own child.
It is our hope, that you will share your passion and love for the children in these impoverished area. And help with the establishment of this extremely important Library establishment. The Foundation counts on your usual cooperation and hope that you will help us to build the people and the children of Mankessim a small room for reading, homework and research.
Libraries play an important role in local communities. And particularly where the community is impoverished, schools are at far distances, many school age going children have little or no access to learning at the limited available schools. It thus becomes our role to facilitate learning through libraries.
In our 5 year Library Development plan 2021 to 2026 is now the focus of AKCLF after a very successful student Scholarship and School Computer Labs projects . The human resources and computer learning from these projects will help us to complement albeit on consultancy and short staff assignments eventual need of full time librarians and other staff when the library is functional,
Years 1, 2 and 3 is the physical development of the library building.
Year 4 - setting and stocking library books - early education foundation books, primary and secondary school books together with reference books and teachers resources.
Year 5 - procurements of computers for resource room, and recruitment of full time staff.
Any caring person who has a passion for educating boys and girls in Africa may contact Akonua and Kwama Children's Literacy Foundation because we give both girls and boys equal educational opportunities.

AKONUA AND KWAMA CHILDREN'S LITERACY FOUNDATION DONATES PRESCHOOL INTERACTIVE LEARNING MATERIALS - March 2021
CALVARY PRAISE PREPARATORY SCHOOL MANKESSIM has been beneficiary of preschool interactive learning materials donated to this school by AKCLF to enhance interactive learning. Fifty nine electronic copies of - Let's learn ABC, 123 and FIRST WORDS have been sent to the school. During the preschool years, young children are developing a sense of initiative and creativity. They are curious about the world around them and about learning. They are exploring their ability to create and communicate using a variety of media (crayons, paints and other art materials, blocks, dramatic play materials,) and through creative movement, singing, dancing, and using their bodies to represent ideas and experiences. Digital technologies provide another important outlet for them to demonstrate their creativity and learning. Technology and Interactive Media allow children to freely explore, listen to audio pronunciations and help develop vocabulary and writing. It is our hope that well wishers see such interventions in preparatory schools as extremely worthwhile and help AKCLF to provide more of these one time support for other schools as well by donating funds directly to the foundation. |
